How to Change Hair Color

Postby HomesteadKids » Fri May 27, 2016 10:29 pm

Talk About A Newbie! Yep Brand New To MH! Never heard of it before yesterday. Nor Blender either, but wanted to start leaning animation and this is what came up.
BTW - Yes, I read the FAQ - Didn't see anything that answered my questions. Please be patient with me! Ok, no worries on being patient.
I have been messing around in the program and working with the parameters that I find. One question is "How do you change hair color?"
The other question is maybe a bit more complicated. Is it possible to take an image of a real person, import it into MH and create a character based on the imported images?
I have a project I thought would be fun to do if that were possible.
Thanks in advance!

You can change the hair colour go to the materials tab then the hair sub-tab if there is a different colour available it will show up on the right panel if not you may have to create a new texture of the colour you want. For the photo it can be used as a background then it depends on your own artistic ability( sorry no short )cuts to match that background image.

Enjoy the Choice :)

The actual hair texture can be edited in an external art programme like photoshop to adjust color, if you arent too good at that then the only way is in blender, in the node editor - instead of the hair texture going directly into the material, add a RGB curve, or a HUE and SATURATION node inbetween. so now withe the hair texture plugged into that node then into the material you can play with the settings of the added node and make adjustments to the color.

Prepare the reference images you want to use. You'll need front, side, and back views of the person's head and body, if possible. In MeshLab, go to File > Import Mesh and select the reference images you want to use. Make sure the images are aligned correctly by adjusting their position and scale. You can use the "Transform" subway surfers tool to do this.
