unwanted boxes on mhx import to blender

I designed a character in MH nightly 2011-10-27 and exported it as mhx, unchecking the blender2.4 and the clothes options in the gui but leaving everything else unchanged.

It seemed to work OK, no problems reported.

I then imported into blender 2.60a - again, no problem reported, but when I looked at the cahracter she was standing in "concrete blocks" (these also showed up in render). A little investigation revealed that these blocks were located in "custon shapes" in blender's outliner window, and went under names like "foot box" (or something like that).

I had a similar problem once before, but am not sure how I resolved it - probably by waiting for a new version :-)

I'd like to know what causes it - I thought maybe incompatible versions, but no error was reported.

Another thing is that the skin appeared patchy in places

Any ideas on this?

Thanks,
/Gary

Something like this happened to me too a few days ago when I was trying to design clothes. I just figured I had accidentally hit some setting or key combination and redid the whole chain and the foot stone magically went away. Didn't think much more of it, mainly cause mysterious things tend to happen regularly to me in blender :)

This happens to me on a seemingly randomn basis.

I think that I simply changed layers to clear up the problem.

You're right. A bit more playing around revealed that they are on layer 20. So the only thing needed to get rid of them is to hide layer 20.

Thanks,

This means that some error occurred during mhx import. The error message is in the console. If you are careful not to move the mouse after you press the Import MHX button, there is also a popup window with the error.

The last thing the importer does is to hide layer 20. If it is not hidden, import was terminated before that step.

Thanks for the info, that's very helpful to know and may be the cause of some of the other problems I've been having. I'll check the console and report back....
