MakeTarget - rig MH character within blender

Postby make3 » Wed Feb 21, 2018 8:13 pm

Hi,

Using Maketarget in Blender, is it possible to load the base mesh , playing with some target sliders , then automaticaly rig the character with the default skeleton ?

In other words ; is it possible to do same that MH but using Blender + maketarget only ?

Do the default sliders exists in .target formats ?

thx

No. MakeTarget doesn't know anything about bones. All it can do is deal with these small cubes called joint helpers. These small cubes tell MH where to put the bone joints.

Some do exist as targets. Gender and ethnicity on the other hand are so called macrotargets. They manipulate a set of targets.

hey,

thx for reply.

So this is more like Blender question . If i create and import an .mhx2 character into blender, add features to it (i.e : constraints, clothes , new textures .. etc) , how can i replace it's trio
mesh-armature-rig with a new .mhx2 and keep all the added features . So basicaly, update a character but keep the added features.

I tried to play with "links" in blender but when its about the weights, the solution doesnt gives a clean answer. Is it possible to target an non-imported .mhx2 in blender and just copy-replace the old model with the new one ? (with same name model of course)

I guess this is a bit outside of what your are asking for, but maybe you could be helped by some aspects of "sync mesh and pose" see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIxdOvHDAmQ. Even if it isn't what you need, maybe there are hints in the source code for how you could solve your specific problems.

The video is a bit old, so the functionality looks a bit different these days. But on the other hand there are more stuff that can be done.

See https://github.com/makehumancommunity/community-plugins for download and installation.

Note that the MHAPI version in this repo is old. If you use other plugins (for example the asset downloader), you should use the recent MHAPI found here: https://github.com/makehumancommunity/c ... gins-mhapi
