The full setup for Windows 7: MH -> mhx2 ->Blender

Postby brkurt » Tue Oct 10, 2017 1:22 am

Could someone please post the combined versions of MH and mxh2 and Blender that yield facial expressions and visemes? I can't get it to work in Windows 7.
This is no biggie for me, but the Valentina / Libre Fashion folks are going to need something a little more whitebread than my usual custom Linux output. :o

I'm curious about this too. I've heard about them but never seen an explanation of where to find them or how they work.

The versions from the Downloads page work fine for me with Windows 10.

When you import the .mhx2 file just check the Override exported data checkbox and the Face Shapes checkbox. The MHX2 visemes and facial exressions will then appear in the MHX2 runtime panel.

Okay, here's what I've got using Blender Plugins for MH 1.1.1, Blender 2.76b for Windows 7:

I can't find that checkbox in the Tools menu.

That check box is not on the tool shelf it's part of the import options you see after you press "Import MHX2"

Enjoy the Choice :)

Yup, you're right. Is there a step-by-step tutorial for this? I'm make one if there isn't.

Just from memory there is a VScorpianC video on lip syncing that starts out with using the MHX2 visemes, I think. Btw, she goes on to say that the built in visemes are too extreme and creates her own, but an easier thing to do is just scale the visemes in the Blender animation editor.

I set my own defaults with the operator presets saves wear and tear on my old brain ;)

Good idea; I'll do that in the future. But the really good news is that I can now combine Thomas Larrson's face shape keys and my common-sense MMA rig.

And, I should share this with the community. I didn't accomplish this alone.
One last note: if you are going to use the default MH rig, export it to Blender 2.74. The jaw special bones get their axes out of wack in later versions.
