MHX2 plug in for Mac is not recognized

Postby edgrimaldi » Thu Sep 15, 2016 11:58 am

Hello,

I just downloaded the latest version of MakeHuman as well as the MHX2 plugins for MH and Blender. I found the MakeHuman plugins folder by browsing the application's package contents (app>Contents>PlugIns) and placed the folder [9_export_mhx2] there. When I restart MakeHuman and attempt to export a model, there is no mhx or mhx2 mesh format available as I expected to find. In the Mesh Format box, there is only Collada(dae), Filmbox(fbx), Wavefront(obj), Ogre3D, and Stereolithography(stl).

I have confirmed I am running the only instance of Make Human (version 1.1.0) installed on my machine, and interestingly, as the program loads up and the install process is echoed on the splash screen, for a very brief moment, it appears that [9_export_mhx2] is attempting to install. (for whatever that's worth)

Also, permission on that folder are set to read and write for everyone, so that shouldn't be an issue either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

While you have makehunam open go to the settings/plugins tab a check that there is a check mark beside 9_export_mhx2 on the plug-in list is so then it should load if not click the box to enable it.If that still does not give you mhx2 the please find the log files so we can track it down properly they can be found at /Users/USERNAME/Documents/makehuman/v1 just copy/paste it between [code] tags so that it's differentiated from the main text of your post.

Hi, I'm having the same problem and have been through the same checks.

Folder 9_export_mhx2 is installed at app/contents/plugins and is read/write permission
Only one copy of makehuman on the system
Running on osx 10.10.5

No errors are reported in the log. Below is a full copy of the log.

Thanks.

Re: MHX2 plug in for Mac is not recognized

So is 9_export_mhx2 on the plug-ins list on the settings/plugins tab and the log you posted confirms that it did not even try to load mhx2 at all.Not a Mac user so I'm flying on instruments so to say :? just for sure check the contents of the 9_export_mhx2 folder there should be 6 .py file if and when it loads there will be 12 files as the py files get compiled to pyc files BTW the folder may have the right permissions but do the individual files also they should be executable which a separate permission on Linux not sure about OSX.

Enjoy the Choice :)

Looking at your log, I think the right place to put the 9_export_mhx2 folder is:
/Applications/MakeHuman.app/Contents/Resources/Plugins/

To navigate there with the finder you may need to control click on MakeHuman in the Applications folder and select "show package contents". Then drill down.

Re: MHX2 plug in for Mac is not recognized

So, has anyone every gotten it to work on a Mac yet? I tried all suggestions in this thread, but MHX2 still isn't an available option in MakeHuman 1.1.0.

I copied the files to the "PlugIns" folder (note that the folder inside the Makehuman package is NOT spelled "Plugins" but I tried it both ways).

I ensured that I have execute permissions (they didn't have the x permission until I changed permissions via chmod).

As I noted, I tried renaming the PlugIns folder to match the instructions I've seen online. Same result. MHX2 export is not available.

Anyone found the secret sauce that makes this sandwich work?

Never mind, I found my error. The error was mine.

I was looking at the wrong folder. That's why the spelling didn't match.

When I copied the 9_export_mhx2 folder to the plugins folder here, it seems to be working:
Macintosh HD/Applications/MakeHuman.app/Contents/Resources/plugins

Thanks for reporting back. OSX is not a commonly used platform for any of the developers, so your report will be a nice starting place for helping other MH users on the Mac.

Several years after this post I am also struggling with MHX2 on a mac, when I go to export I get the following error:

Exception during event onFileSelected
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "./core/events3d.py", line 211, in callEvent
File "./apps/gui/guiexport.py", line 112, in onFileSelected
File "plugins/9_export_mhx2/__init__.py", line 51, in export
File "plugins/9_export_mhx2/mh2mhx2.py", line 40, in <module>
ImportError: No module named uuid

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
